Key Elements of the Medical Aesthetic Consultation
Medical History Review
The practitioner will review the patient’s medical history to ensure there are no contraindications to the desired aesthetic treatments. This includes reviewing any medications, allergies, previous procedures, and any chronic conditions.

Skin and Facial Analysis
The practitioner will analyse the patient’s skin and facial structure. This helps in identifying issues like volume loss, skin laxity, wrinkles, or pigmentation.

Understanding Patient Goals
It’s essential for the practitioner to fully understand what the patient hopes to achieve. Patients may be looking for subtle enhancements, like reducing fine lines, or more significant changes, like facial contouring.
Explanation of Treatment Options
Based on the assessment, the practitioner will present appropriate treatment options, explaining how each one works, the benefits, potential risks, and the expected outcomes.

Customised Treatment Plan
A tailored treatment plan is created based on the patient’s aesthetic goals and medical suitability. This might involve a single treatment or a combination of procedures over time to achieve optimal results.

Discussion of Risks and Side Effects
Every medical aesthetic procedure comes with potential risks and side effects, even if they are minimal. The practitioner will provide detailed information on what to expect post-treatment.

Cost and Treatment Timeline
The practitioner will provide a clear outline of the costs involved in the chosen treatments. They will also discuss the expected number of sessions, recovery time, and how long the results will last. Some treatments require regular maintenance, which should be factored into the overall plan.
Pre- and Post-Treatment Instructions
Depending on the procedure, the patient may need to follow specific pre-treatment guidelines, such as avoiding alcohol or certain medications. Post-treatment care instructions are also essential to minimise side effects and ensure optimal results.
